November Crochet WIP Check-In

November is here, and with it, the crisp, cozy weather that's perfect for crochet. I have to admit—life got a little busy last month, and I didn’t get to crochet as much as I wanted. But that just means it’s the perfect time for a “WIP Graveyard” update, where I revisit all the projects in progress (and a few that are still just ideas waiting to take shape)!

WIPs I’m Working On (Or Trying To)

Here’s what’s currently keeping my hooks and needles busy.

  1. Cropped Cardigan: I’ve mentioned this one before, but now I’m finally experimenting with a sleeve design! Fingers crossed it works out, because I’d love to have this as my go-to cozy cardigan.

  2. Brown Mystery Project: Okay, I’ll give you a hint... it’s bear-themed, and it’s adorable! But for now, I’m keeping it a mystery until it’s complete.

  3. Yarn Colors for a Future Vest: Not quite a WIP yet, but I’ve got two yarn colors for a new vest project. Choosing colors might be one of the hardest (and most fun) parts of planning a project!

  4. Knit Cardigan from 6 Years Ago: This poor project has been languishing in the corner for years, and I finally realized the sleeves need to be frogged/ripped and redone. It’s a slow process, but it’ll be worth it!

  5. Fruit Set for the “Fruit Salad” Game: I finished crocheting a set of adorable fruits, but I still need to document and write up the pattern for each piece. Look out for this one soon—I can’t wait to share!

  6. Temperature Blanket Catch-Up: September got away from me, but I managed to catch up on my temperature blanket and am finally back on track!

  7. Trellis Stitch Top: I’m working with a trellis stitch that’s delicate and airy. This one is what I consider a casual crochet project that I can put down and pick up whenever I have time.

  8. Lace Weight Granny Squares: I’ve been making these with crochet thread, and while they’re beautiful, I haven’t decided what to do with them yet.

Remembrance Day Poppies

This year, I revisited one of my older patterns to make some poppies for Remembrance Day. I love that something as simple as crochet can carry such a strong message and symbol. If you’d like to make your own, check out the blog post with the pattern here and the YouTube tutorial here.

Cozy Listening: Words of Radiance

For my audiobook, I’ve been listening to Words of Radiance by Brandon Sanderson, and let me tell you, it’s a journey. The worldbuilding is incredible, and there’s something so captivating about these characters and the sweeping epic of the story. It’s definitely keeping me company during those long crochet sessions.

Quick Crochet Tip: Stash-Busting Without Overwhelm

Here’s a simple trick for keeping your stash under control: whenever you start a new project, try to incorporate at least one leftover yarn or partial skein. Even if it’s just for an accent or stripe, it can help keep those yarn odds and ends from taking over your space.

I hope you enjoyed this little WIP check-in, and that it sparks some inspiration for your own crochet projects! Let me know which WIP you're most curious about, or share what’s currently on your hook.
