Pattern Inspiration
Not sure how to use your new citrus slices? Here are some fun ideas to get you started:
Stacking Games: Crochet a set in different colors for a playful stacking game that’s great for kids (or the kid in you!).
Holiday Ornaments: Add a loop of yarn or ribbon, and these slices make the cutest tree decorations.
Kitchen Decor: Sew a few slices together to create a fun garland for your kitchen.
Keychains or Bag Charms: Add a keyring, and you’ve got an adorable accessory for your bag or keys.
Play Food for Kids: Pair these slices with other crocheted fruits to create a handmade play food set.
No matter how you use them, these citrus slices are bound to brighten your day and your crochet projects!
Tips for Crochet Success
Color Changes Made Easy: Switching between yarn colors can feel tricky at first, but don’t stress. To create a seamless look, I recommend the jogless technique from Littlejohn’s Yarn. (I’ve linked it in the pattern notes!)
Don’t Overstuff: These slices should lay flat for that realistic wedge look. Add just enough stuffing to give them structure without puffing them out too much.
Flattening the Slice: When you embroider the citrus segments, insert the needle through both layers to gently flatten the slice. This extra step makes the piece feel polished and professional.
Spacing Embroidery Segments: For an evenly spaced citrus design, start with six segments. Feeling adventurous? Add more or vary the spacing for a unique look.

Finishing Details
Use an embroidery needle and Oatmilk yarn to stitch the orange segments.
Step 1: Bring the needle from the center to a spot in the outer pith round (Round 6) and through to the opposite side of the slice. For best results, keep your yarn tension snug but not too tight to avoid puckering the slice.
Tip: Inserting the needle through both layers will help to flatten the slice more.
Step 2: Bring the needle back to the center to a spot between Round 1 and 2.
Step 3: Repeat until you have 6 or 8 segments. Make them evenly spaced apart or uneven for a more natural fruit look. With the stuffing inside it will make this step a bit tricky but take it slow, the effect is worth it.
Step 4: Weave in the ends and your orange slice is done!
If you want to make a lime or lemon, use the same steps with a yellow or green yarn.
