Yarn Review: Manos del Uruguay Feliz Yarn

Circular crochet vests have always intrigued me, with their intricate and beautiful designs. After discovering the joy of crocheting mandalas, I felt inspired to try creating a mandala crochet vest. However, I was unsure about the perfect yarn to use. Thankfully, Fairmount Fibers (North American distributor of Manos del Uruguay yarns) offered me the opportunity to review Feliz, a merino superwash and modal. In this review, I'll share my experience using this yarn and creating my own mandala crochet vest.

Discovering the Perfect Yarn for My Crochet Vest

Choosing the right yarn for a project is crucial, but it can also be daunting. When it came to making my mandala vest, I wanted a yarn that was just right - and the Feliz yarn from Manos del Uruguay was a perfect match. This fair trade yarn is produced by artisans throughout Uruguay, and every skein purchased helps a woman in Uruguay support her family. I was also impressed that each skein was signed by the artisan who made it. When I received my Feliz yarn, I was immediately drawn to the bright and beautiful colors, and the yarn felt soft and squishy to the touch.

Crafting the Mandala Vest

With yarn in hand, I began to craft my mandala vest. I didn't have a plan, and I made up each round and stitch as I went along. I started with a circle and kept adding to it until it covered enough of my back. The arm holes were the most challenging part, but I found a helpful tutorial on Craftsy and used a size 5.00mm crochet hook to complete the project. The end result was a beautiful vest that is both warm and cozy.

I loved using Manos del Uruguay's Feliz yarn for my mandala vest. This yarn is not only beautiful and soft, but it also supports artisans and their families in Uruguay. If you're looking for a high-quality and socially responsible yarn for your next project, consider giving Feliz a try.
