Bear Mason Jar Cozy Crochet Pattern
Isn't it amazing when you discover something so cleverly awesome?
That's what I thought when I came across the genius idea to use a mason jar with a blender. I've been using the 500ml jars so I'm not sure if other jars work but basically, you just screw the blade portion onto the jar and blend away!
So with this new-found knowledge I started making single-serving smoothies (recipe at the end of this post). Alas, smoothies are usually very cold, especially when frozen fruit is involved, and that results in cold hands.
Enter the bear mason jar cozy crochet pattern!
Not only does this bear cozy protect your hands from cold and hot beverages, but it also adds a touch of warm, fuzzy cuteness with its adorable bear smile. It’s especially fun to take this cozy to your local coffee shop and hand it to the barista for your latte. By the way, the mason jar holding your drink works great for a Starbucks Grande (16oz) beverage. The delight on the barista’s face is pure gold!
This mason jar cozy pattern is suitable for beginner crocheters who have experience with basic crochet stitches and working in the round. And if you need a tutorial or refresher I’ve got a crochet basics tutorial handy!

This cozy pattern is for a 500ml mason jar but you can adjust the size by increasing the base circle stitches to make it larger or starting with fewer base circle stitches to make it smaller.

Assembling the mason jar cozy
If you are using safety eyes, attach them wherever you prefer, I placed mine between Rounds 17 and 18.
Note: When I attached the safety eyes I found it necessary to trim the excess stem with pliers. If you do this be careful not to trim too much or the eye could fall out.
Cut a small square piece of felt for the mouth and nose, then embroider the nose and smile with black embroidery thread.
Cut the square into a round shape, then sew it onto the mason jar with thread. Use a safety pin to hold the felt in place as you stitch it onto the cozy.
Your sweet bear mason jar cozy is ready to use!
Banana-Mango-Ginger Smoothie!
To make the smoothie I put about:
1/3 cup plain yogurt,
half a frozen banana,
a handful of frozen mango,
about 1/4 cup of milk, and
a small chunk of fresh ginger
Everything went into a 500ml mason jar and I blended away as I thought, "This is awesome."
