Cat Drink Cozy Crochet Pattern
After the Crochet Bear Mason Jar Cozy, I couldn't resist making another drink cozy, this time for a canned or bottled drink. I wanted something cute and playful, like the bear.
As I brainstormed a smaller test version of the mason jar cozy to try on a pop can, I immediately pictured a cat. This idea might have been inspired by a recent walk past what seemed to be an abandoned house, fully inhabited by cats. We couldn't get close enough to see where they came from, but we saw them slinking around inside, being both aloof and cute.
Cats are perfect for cute and kitschy crochet projects, so why not make a crochet cat drink cozy?

Round 18: sc in next 11 sts, in next st (sc, 2 hdc, 2 ch, 2 hdc, sc), sl st in next 5 sts, in next st (sc, 2 hdc, 2 ch, 2 hdc, sc), leave remaining sts as is.
Cut the yarn and weave in the ends.
Tail
ch 12, sc in the 2nd ch from hook and each ch across, 4 sc in the last ch, continue along the bottom of the foundation chain to the end.
Cut the yarn leaving a long tail to sew onto the body.
Add details to the cat cozy!
With a yarn needle sew the tail onto the back of the cat cozy (around the beginning of rounds 8 or 9).
If you are using safety eyes, attach them wherever you prefer, I placed mine between Rounds 14 and 16. Since the eyes I purchased are clear I applied two coats of green paint to the inside of each eye, careful not to get paint on the outside.
Note: When I attached the safety eyes I found it necessary to trim the excess stem with pliers. If you do this be careful not to trim too much or the eye could fall out.
Cut a small square piece of felt for the mouth and nose, then embroider the nose and smile with pink embroidery thread.
Cut the square into a round shape, then sew it onto the cat with thread. Use a safety pin to hold the felt in place as you stitch it onto the cozy.
And your crochet cat drink cozy is done! Feel free to give your cat a name and take them with you to the beach, the cottage, and any social gathering where you’ll be enjoying cold drinks!
