Crochet Pluto Planet Amigurumi Pattern
This morning the first thing Jason said to me was, "The New Horizons spacecraft made it to Pluto!" But inside my groggy morning brain nothing happened, I hadn't had my coffee yet.
An hour (and two cups of coffee) later I was in awe at how far we've come in our space exploration. After a decade of soaring through our solar system, the New Horizons probe flew by Pluto and gave us a closer look at the dwarf planet. Amazing.
Even more amazing is that a part of Pluto's surface has the shape of a heart! I went from awe to "Aww!" and it didn't take very long for me to decide that I needed to make a crochet Pluto planet amigurumi.

When it came down to making the planet I decided to use the same pattern as the little Death Star with several modifications. The finished size for this planet is 9 inches in circumference.
Pattern Notes
Pattern is worked in continuous rounds, do not join or turn at the end of each round.
Use stitch markers to keep track of rounds.
Color changes are made in the second step of the previous single crochet stitch, for example: with Main Colour insert hook into stitch, yarn over and pull through, yarn over with Contrasting Colour and pull through.
Don't worry if the sphere looks a bit cone-shaped, that is fixed with lots and lots of stuffing.
Materials
Worsted weight (4) yarn, I used Bernat Super Value in Clay for MC and Oatmeal for CC
