Toadstool Mushroom Crochet Applique Pattern + Video
I shared my mushroom creations on Instagram and Iām super excited to finally share the crochet pattern that's been brewing in my creative cauldron. You know that feeling when an idea takes root and mushrooms into something utterly charming? Well, that's precisely what happened when I embarked on designing the Fly Agaric Mushroom Appliqué for a recent Hobbii Yarn campaign.
But first, some fun fungus facts because I just find these organisms so fascinating!š
The Fly Agaric, also known as Amanita muscaria, has more aliases than an undercover secret agent. It's been called everything from the classic toadstool to the fly-killing mushroom, and even the red cap. And speaking of red caps, you might recognize this toadstool from its notable appearances in popular video games, fairy tale books and adorning the homes of forest-dwelling critters.
Now, let's get down to the heart of the matter ā the creation of this appliqué masterpiece. To bring the Fly Agaric to life, I used Hobbii Friends Mercerized Cotton. This yarn is as soft as a gnome's whisper and easy to work with, giving the appliqué a graceful drape and a flexible feel.
The design process was like conjuring magic, as I envisioned this tiny marvel becoming part of something even bigger. You see, this Fly Agaric Mushroom Appliqué is just one element of a grander project that I'm eager to share with you in an upcoming blog post. A project that wraps around you like a cozy forest embrace ā the Shroom Shrug. Stay tuned for that but first, the mushroom applique crochet pattern!
