Baby Yoda Drink Sleeve Crochet Pattern

Who doesn't want a baby Yoda drink cozy? This baby Yoda drink cozy crochet pattern was created out of love for the most adorable Star Wars character and of course a need for a new drink cozy.

I was inspired by the shot of baby Yoda holding a cup in one of the Mandalorian episodes. If you've seen baby Yoda memes, you know which shot I'm talking about. Making this cozy was really fun and I just love how it turned out - his sweet face just melts my heart every time.

If you make this pattern I would love to know what you thought and if you come across any errors I would also love to know!

Baby Yoda

Drink Cozy Crochet Pattern

Materials

  • Worsted weight (4) acrylic yarn, such as Bernat Super Value in:

    • Fern for the head, ears, and hands

    • Oatmeal for the robe

    • True Red for the heart

    • 3.75mm crochet hook

    • 8mm safety eyes or buttons*

    • Yarn needle

    • Sewing needle and thread

*Buttons and safety eyes are a choking hazard for children under the age of 3. An alternative is to embroider the eyes or use felt.

Size

This cozy fits a 473ml beverage can. It's a tad too tall for a shorter 355ml can but it certainly won't prevent you from enjoying both  your drink and the cuteness of the cozy.

If you'd like to make this big enough for a mason jar, check out my Bear Mason Jar Cozy pattern as a reference for the stitch count.

Structure

The cozy is made up of the following parts:

  • The robe is a tube shape worked in continuous rounds.

  • The sleeves are hollow tubes worked in joined rows.

  • The hands are created by making a series of chains.

  • The head is a half circle with a few horizontal rows worked into the bottom edge for easier sewing to the body.

  • The ears are created by working stitches into the top and bottom loops of the foundation chain.

  • The heart was made using a variation of this pattern https://www.neacreates.com/pattern/perfect-crochet-heart/

Assembly

You can assemble this in any order you like but I found this order to be the least headache-inducing.

  1. Sew the hands to the inside of the sleeves. I only sewed the hands to inside front so there would be a loose gap appearance to the sleeves.

  2. Sew each hand onto the heart with the needle and thread.

  3. Fold the robe collar down (Rounds 23 and 24) and pin down with a few stitches.

  4. With the hands already placed on the heart and collar folded down it's easier to sew the sleeves to the robe.

  5. Sew the head to the body.

  6. Sew the ears to the head.

  7. Attach the eyes.

Your new beverage cozy is ready for cute action!
